Red Ribbon Week is a nationwide event dedicated to being drug free and teaching kids all over America the dangers of drug use. This year, Red Ribbon Week fell upon the last week of October. The FCCLA sponsored the program, and its members organized various dress up days and activities to make the experience fun for the elementary kids while educating them about drugs and their negative consequences.
The days are as follows: Monday-Turn Your Back on Drugs -Wear your clothes backwards, Tuesday- Put a Cap on Drugs -Wear a hat to school, Wednesday- Shade Out Drugs -Wear Sunglasses to Your Classes, Thursday- Black Out Drugs -Dress in Black, Friday- Costume Day -Wear Halloween Costumes.
Activities during the week include a picture contest, a backwards relay, a paper plane flying contest, and other fun activities. The members passed out pamphlets to all classes and gave information about various harmful drugs. The FCCLA is hoping that Red Ribbon Week will be a huge success and will become an event that students will look forward to every year. |
